Hucknall Sports U11's White 5 Clifton AW White 1
Sunday 16th September 2007
Sports followed last
week’s victory over Toton Tigers with the first home game of the season
against Clifton.
Sports started the game
full of attacking intent and went ahead in only the second minute when Aaron
Bond broke down the right and played a sublime ball through to Sam Beardsley
who’s rasping shot from the edge of the area was too much for the Clifton
keeper.
Further chances followed
with Brandon Feebery shooting narrowly wide from distance and both Ryan Williams
and Josh Pickering going close. At the other end Carter Newton had to be on his
toes to firstly come quickly off his line to gather a dangerous through ball and
then make a good save as Clifton pressed for an equaliser.
A second goal followed
after 25 minutes when a perfect corner from Rocket Ronnie Sheppard landed at the
feet of Josh Pickering whose half volley gave the Clifton keeper no chance.
The second half followed in
much the same way as the first with Sports dominating but failing to take their
chances. A third goal finally arrived when Aaron Bond got onto the end of a
cross to tuck the ball firmly into the corner of the Clifton net.
This should have been the
sign for Sports to take total control of the game and play with added confidence
but unfortunately this was not to be as defensive quartet of Alex Jacques, Kurt
Hardy, Joe Porter and Brandon Feebery were made to work hard to maintain the 3
goal advantage. The Sports defence was finally breached on 45 minutes when
a flowing Clifton move allowed their striker to confidently round keeper Newton
and slip the ball into the empty net.
Allowing Clifton to score
seemed to wake Sports up and 2 more goals soon followed, first of all a Clifton
goal kick was intercepted and Ryan Williams cool finish made the score 4 – 1.
More was soon to come as straight from the kick the ball broke to Brandon
Feebery whose lob over the
advancing keeper made the final score 5 – 1 to Hucknall and maintain their
winning start to the season.
Sports have the ability to play better than they did on this occasion but it is hard to be critical of this performance after another convincing win. Man of the match went to Kurt Hardy for his hard working defensive display.
