Whites Romp to First Victory of the Season
Straight from the kick-off Whites went on the attack and pinned Lions back in their own half. A sweeping move involving Barlow and Evans allowed HALLAM to grab his first goal of the season to take Whites into a deserved lead. But almost immediately Lions roared back with a marvellous individual goal from their diminutive striker. Despite plenty of pressure and great football from both teams half-time arrived with the scores locked at 1-1.
Believing that the win was theirs for the taking, Whites took the game by the 'scruff of the neck' and totally dominated the start of the second half. BOWLEY hit a shot from just inside the penalty area that the goalkeeper could only push the ball into the roof of his net to give Whites the lead once.
Soon after DAVIES headed a 'Rio Ferdinand-like' rocket into the top corner from a wonderfully delivered corner by Diriso and then EVANS turned on the (Welsh) style to 'skill' three Carton defenders and coolly slot the ball away to take the score to 4-1. But Carlton were not ready to accept defeat just yet and helped by sloppy tracking back from Whites midfield, Lions pushed and pushed to get back into the game.
All thanks to a great defensive performance from Brown (The Cat), Smith (The Silent Assassin) and Davies (The Blond Bombshell) for keeping out the Carlton strikers and guiding the team to victory.
Friendly match - Carlton Town Lions 3 Hucknall Sports White 2

2008
Still celebrating
victory, Whites took the the pitch for a friendly game and maybe
relaxed a touch too much in allowing Carlton to score two
goals without response. Wilson continued to
show great strength and determination in right-midfield and is clearly
learning from his first season of team football. Likewise Hart, playing
as the lone-striker, displayed more than enough skill to demonstrate
that he will play a major part in the success of this team in the
future. EVANS got on the
score sheet for the second time that day with a wonderful long range
shot that left the keeper gasping at thin air. Then Whites goalie
BROWN, playing as a left winger, scored his first ever goal with a long
range blast that the Lions goalie could only push into the back of the
net. Lions played some
nice football and eventually took the victory by 3-2
