Hucknall Sports U10's White 2 Dunkirk Colts 2

 Diriso at the Double

After almost a month without a game Sports were chomping at the bit to get back to league action and couldn't wait for this match to start against Dunkirk who are an improving side. The earlier league encounter had ended in a 3-3 draw so nothing was being taken for granted by either team.

Hucknall started strongly and the midfield trio of Evans, Orton and Barlow pressed hard to provide that 'killer' pass to set up a goal chance. Eventually Orton found his range and slotted a lovely pass to DIRISO who drove the ball into the top corner and celebrated with his trademark 'finger to the lips'. But Dunkirk struck back from an in swinging corner that somehow alluded the front post defender and goalie of Sports to dribble into the net. Halftime arrived with the scores locked at 1-1.

Sports push again and again to restore the lead with Evans providing the creativity but the Sports strikers just couldn't find a way past the superb Dunkirk Goalkeeper. Then on a breakaway move that saw a crunching tackle from Davies stop the Dunkirk striker in his tracks the Hucknall team stopped playing expecting the to hear the referees whistle, but it never came and the opposition slotted the ball into the net with only 8 minutes to go.

However, Hucknall are extremely tough to beat nowadays and rather than 'throwing in the towel' they set about the Dunkirk defence with some wonderful play. For a while it looked like they would be foiled by the opposition goalie, but then an enforced substitution saw DIRISO enter the game once more and with his first touch he brought the scores level again. During the last 5 minutes Hucknall laid siege to the Dunkirk goal, but despite hitting the cross-bar through another Diriso effort the winning goal just would not come.

Full time 2-2 - phew what a game!

Man of the Match went to Diriso, not only for his goals but also for a wonderful all round performance.

Friendly Match

Hucknall Sports 2 Dunkirk Colts 1

Five players took to the pitch who had not figured in the league game and showed just how much 'strength in depth' Hucknall have with Saxton outstanding in taking a lead role in marshalling the defence.

HART continued his good form and scored with a long range shot for Sports only for Colts to draw level.Johnstone worked hard to create a chance for himself and was unlucky to see his shot saved in the second half, but EVANS demonstrated how to do things by calming slotting into the bottom corner to win the game for Sports.

Man of the Match went to Hart for another solid performance up front and in midfield, but a special mention to Saxton for a great defensive performance also.
