Bad luck continues for Whites

On a wonderful day for football Whites entertained West Bridgeford at Newstead Recreational Ground encouraged by a great display the previous week. Unfortunately, a first minute fumble in defence gifted an early goal to the opposition and the nerves of the supporters on the touch-line transmitted themselves to the players on the pitch.

It was 'backs to the wall' defending by Whites just to keep themselves in the game, but after 20 minutes Hucknall started to find their way and set about creating some good chances with EVANS at the forefront of most things. Half time arrived with the score 1-0 to Bridgford and everything to play for.

Hucknall pushed forward in the second half in search of an equaliser and HALLAM only narrowly missed the target with a rocket shot from close range. The defence of DAVIES and SMITH held firm and restricted Bridgford to only long range chances which BROWN, growing in confidence, handled well. But a penalty to West Bridgford proved to be the turning point of the game and although Hucknall pulled a goal back through BARLOW to setup a thrilling finale Whites ran out of time to clinch the draw that they deserved.

For the second week running the boys can rightly feel disappointed not to take something from this game.

Man of the Match Award went to the 'Welsh Wizard' EVANS for a wonderful midfield performance.

In the friendly game Hucknall soon took the lead with a neat back-heel from ORTON just beating the Bridgford goalie to sneak into the bottom corner of the net.

NEWTON looked 'solid' in goal and kept the opposition at bay with his speed of thought and positioning. DIRISO scored a great goal from a finely worked opening and celebrated with his trademark 'finger to the mouth' to the delight of the Hucknall supporters.

Substitutions flowed and DAVIES tried all the tricks in his armoury to conjure up a goal that his performance deserved, but it was BOWLEY who broke free from the West Bridgeford defenders to blast a shot into the roof of the net.
With only minutes left, SAXTON popped up on the right side of attack to prod the ball home for his first goal for the team.

Man of the Match Award went to SAXTON for a great performance.
