Wollaton
Hall 0 Hucknall Sports U10's White 5
Saturday
28th March 2009
Strong winds
greeted Hucknall's arrival at Fernwood School for their Division 2
match with Wollaton Hall.
After
winning the toss Whites captain for the day Hallam chose to play with the
wind at their backs and as usual Hucknall started at 'break-neck' speed. A
succession of Hucknall corners kept the Wollaton Hall defence on their toes,
but they stood the test well. Then a great move between Evans and Orton
created a chance for DIRISO to open the scoring for Whites with a
drilled shot that the Hall keeper had no chance to save. Wollaton rode their
luck at the back and created very few chances going forward thanks to some
disciplined defending by Hucknall's Saxton and Smith. Half-time arrived with
the score 1-0 to Hucknall and all to play for.
Wollaton
lined-up early for the second half with confidence and bolstered by the wind
at their backs. However, it was Hucknall who settled well and set about
playing some great passing football that resulted in a goal for BARLOW.
Unselfish play by Evans setup DIRISO for his second of the game and HALLAM
plundered a wonder goal with a shot from a narrow angle. Finally, Evans
capped a 'man of the match' performance with the fifth goal that saw
Hucknall win the game. Final score Wollaton Hall 0 Hucknall Sports 5.
Hucknall's
second half performance was near perfect, with all 10 players making a
telling contribution. But all credit to Wollaton for making a fight of the
match despite the loss of one of their star players for the season.
