Bulwell kick off this first evening match of the season, and in this first half there were few chances, most of them falling to Sports.  

An effort from Joe Barnes but the keeper got well behind the ball, a header by Macauley Walker that was kicked off the line and a corner from Mark Shelton, an inswinger destined to go in under the bar, was somehow tipped over by the keeper. Bulwell’s only effort was a kick from the halfway line hoping to catch Kieran Sheppard off his line, but it went well wide.  

The second half began and Sports kick off and have stepped up a gear, some nice touches between Sam Farn, Joe Worrall and Oliver Davidson-Turner almost bring a result, Turner’s shot going just wide.Sports keep coming forward and this time they take the lead, Kieran Davis wins a tackle in midfield and the ball falls to Worrall. He sees Walker making his move down the left, and feeds him the ball. Walker gets to the by-line and shoots for goal its deflected back to Walker who has a second chance. This time his effort hits the post, the ball rolls in front of goal, but Worrall who has come from nowhere is there to tap it over the line.

 A goal in front can Sports step up another gear? They keep coming forward but find it hard to create further chances. Shelton takes some more good corners but the forwards can not connect. Bulwell have rare moments where they break away but there is always Ben Clarke, Kieran Duncan or Farn to take charge. And a clearance from Farn sets up the second goal. Shelton picks up the clearance and pushes the ball forward to Turner, he twists and turns and gets into the penalty area, the only way Bulwell can stop him is to bring him down. Turner takes his own spot kick and blasts it into the net.  

Three more points for Sports, Farn whose vision and ability to read the   game gets better each week earns him the “Man of the Match” trophy.
