Hucknall Sports U12's Red 4 Pelican Colts 1

Pelican kick off this game hoping to gain ground on Sports in the league, but an early goal by Hucknall sets them back.  

Sports are soon on the attack using the slope of the pitch to their advantage. Sam Farn in midfield wins the ball and hits the ball downfield, the Pelican defender tries to head back to his keeper but the keeper can not hold on to the ball. Adam Boyfield sees his chance and within five minuets puts Sports 1-0 up. Sports have further chances in this first half, a fine shot by Oliver Davidson-Turner, saved by the keeper. Two free kicks taken by Mark Shelton one going just wide of the post and one over the bar, but it is Pelican who equalise from a corner and could nearly have taken the lead, but a fine save from Kieran Sheppard keeps the score level.  

Sports keep pressing and get their noses in front before half time. A series of throws on the right won by the energetic Turner gets the ball to Joe Worrall, his fine shot is only half stopped by the keeper and Macauley Walker is there to finish the job and put Sports 2-1 up. Before the half finishes Walker is there again to increase Sports lead, Boyfield wins the ball and pushes it through the defence Walker is first to the ball and fires it past the keeper.

Sports begin this second half searching to further increase their lead. But again Pelican come back and win a free kick 25 yards out. A well taken kick by their number nine is goal bound, but another fine save by Sheppard keeps the ball out. Sports press again and this time go further ahead, a goal kick from Pelican is picked up from Shelton, he passes to his right where Turner picks up. Turner gets round his man and crosses; Jolli Heer is waiting and heads the ball in to put Sports 4-1 up.  

After this win Sports are now two points behind the leaders and with a game in hand an exciting end to the season awaits. Another fine save by Sheppard earns him The “Man of the Match” award.
