Sports kick off this last match of the season needing all three points to clinch the title, and they are soon on the attack. A long ball from Joe Worrall sets up Mark Shelton with a chance but his shot is just wide.  

Sports look like they mean business as they move forward, Macauley Walker and Oliver Davidson-Turner both go close, and its not long before they take the lead. Some good defending down the left from Ben Clarke earns them a throw in. Kieran Davis takes it quickly, a long throw to Worrall who heads on to Walker . He controls well, picks his spot, and its 1-0 to Sports.  

Hucknall come forward again still pressing, Kieran Duncan wins a tackle in midfield and taps it forward to Joe Barnes, who lays back to Shelton  his effort is inches over the bar. A cross from Barnes and Walker heads towards goal but the keeper holds on to the ball. As the end of the half approaches more chances are created but they only have the one goal to show for all the possession they have had.  

The second half begins and still Sports come forward. A throw on the right by Worrall is headed on by Stephen Whitley to Turner; his shot is straight at the keeper. Carlton try and get back into this game and win their first corner. Sports know that if Carton equalize the title is lost. A fine header out of defence by Sam Farn ease’s the situation. Shelton wins a ball down the left, he gets round his man, crosses to Adam Boyfield, he watches agonisingly as his header is the wrong side of the post.  

Sports pressure pays of and the tension eases as they increase their lead. With minutes to go one of many goal kicks by Carlton is picked up this time by Jolli Heer, who taps to Shelton, he flicks it on to Walker and this time Walker fires in to put Sports in front 2-0. Walker ’s brace earns him “The Man of the Match” award.  

A tremendous season for Sports, they clinch the title by one point and add this silverware to the success of winning the Nott’s Challenge Shield.
