Clifton All Whites 1 Hucknall Sports U12's Red 2

 With both clubs enjoying a 100% record this season, this fixture promised to be a corker, it was better than that.  

Sports kicked off this game but it was Clifton who did the early attacking, creating early chances but shooting wide, hitting or firing just over the bar. Sports counter attacked where they could and they looked the more dangerous in front of goal. Real chances were few, the Sports defence settled and Ben Clarke, Joe Worrall, Kieran Duncan and Kieran Sheppard in goal kept the All Whites at bay.  

Halfway through this first half the deadlock was broken, Worrell wins a tackle in midfield, passes to his right where Stephen Whitley picks up, he sees Oliver Davidson-Turner and feeds him the ball. Turner lays it to Mark Shelton and his shot is deflected for a corner. Shelton ’s corner is a gem and Worrall jumps higher than anyone to head the ball into the back of the net.  

Clifton had a real chance of an equalizer after twenty minutes, a fine shot towards the top of the goal but Sheppard dived to his right to push the ball out for a corner.    

It was still 1-0 to Sports as Clifton kick off this second half, Clifton still looking for an equalizer come forward but Sports are defending well and they grow in confidence and put some good moves together. They win a throw on the right which is quickly taken by Whitley to Shelton , he finds Worrall in space and Worrall flicks the ball into Clifton ’s area. Sam Farn finds himself with the ball and space and blast’s the ball into the net to make it 2-0.  

Chances are still being made in this end to end game, Kieran Davis, Reegan Morris and Fagan Edwards adding fire power to the attack. A cross from Shelton and Edwards is just inches from adding to the score.  

A penalty later in the game gave Clifton hope to get something from this game, Sheppard almost stopped the shot, but they pulled it back to 2-1.  

Sports defended well this last 8 minutes, Clarke was outstanding and was later awarded the “Man of the Match” award.
