Eastwood Colts 2 Hucknall Sports U12's Red 3

On an afternoon where the weather is just right for football, Sports take an early lead, and it looks like another walk over. But Eastwood have something to say in this match.  

Within minutes of the kick off an attack down the right by Stephen Whitley brings a goal, his square pass inside finds Macauley Walker who calmly back heals to new boy Adam Boyfield, his first time effort flies in to the net. Eastwood fight back and gain two corners in succession, the second is a fine cross and Kieran Sheppard in goal can only parry it away. Eastwood are first to the ball and tap in to level the score.  

At the other end a fine corner by Mark Shelton and Joe Worrall rises to head just over the bar. A second corner by Shelton and Boyfield gets in another effort, but the keeper is there to make a fine save. A nice build up in midfield gets Sports in the lead again; Worrall pushes the ball through the defence and Shelton runs on to put Sports 2-1 up. Eastwood have their chances to square the game before half time, one effort hitting the post as the whistle goes.  

Sports are quickly on the attack in this second half winning two corners. Shelton taking both, the second comes back to Shelton , who weaves in and fires towards goal, the keeper can only push the ball away and Walker who is waiting gets his chance and it’s in the net, 3-1 to Sports. Eastwood come back using the slope to their advantage and pull a goal back, only one goal behind they lift their heads and search for an equaliser. Sports are under pressure but keep cool, and Ben Clarke, Sam Farn and Kieran Duncan in defence keep Eastwood at bay.  

Sports hold on to their lead and remain undefeated, Reegan Morris who switched his positions to make way for substitutes always gave 100% and earned him “The man of the Match” trophy.
