Y.E.L U12 SATURDAY CUP
Sports take on Pegasus from
the second division in this second round of the cup but it soon becomes clear
the class difference between the two divisions. Sports mount attack after attack
and soon take an early lead.
Mark Shelton wins a tackle on the right and
pushes the ball forward to Stephen Whitley, he controls well and crosses the
ball into the center, where Kieran Duncan moves into the penalty area and his
first time shot beats the keeper. There were no stopping Sports now and before
the first half had finished a further seven goals were scored. Fagan Edwards and
Curtis Edwards picking up one. Macauley Edwards scoring two on his debut. Oliver
Davidson-Turner bagging two. And one of the best moves of this half involves a
head out of defence to
This continued in the second half and
although only three more goals were scored, missed chances and offside decisions
were plentiful. Kieran Sheppard in the Sports goal had little to do in the first
half and tried his luck in the field while Joe Worrall kept goal. Ben
Clarke, who moved up into the attack, allowed Whitley to step back into the
middle of the defence, scored a goal early on. Curtis Edwards took his tally to
two goals and Turner got his hat-trick with the last goal of the day.
Whitley had one of his best games of the
season moving back into defence, which earned him “The Man of the Match”
trophy. It was a comfortable victory for Sports, as they march forward into the
next round of this competition.
