An early setback for Sports, as Ravenshead take an early lead against the run of play. Sports battle back on a heavy going pitch to take the lead and progress into the next round.  

Sports begin this game and start to build attacks. Mark Shelton, Ben Oscroft and Sam Farn already controlling the midfield, the muddy pitch not helping them connecting with their forwards. A long ball down the left sees Ravenshead attack for the first time, and the cross over into the box gets a deflection with the ball ending up in the net off the right hand post, it silences the home crowd.  

Sports start this game again, building up their confidence. Fagan Edwards twice has a one two with Curtis Edwards setting up Oliver Davidson-Turner with chances, but the keeper is well behind the ball on both occasions. Sports persistence pays off after about twenty-five minutes. A shot from outside the area by Macauley Walker skims over the bar. The goal kick by the Ravenshead keeper was a poor one and Shelton picks it up and controls, he passes the ball to his left where Curtis Edwards is waiting, Edwards ghosts away from the defenders and delivered a shot to the right of the keeper to put them on level terms.  

Before the half finishes Sports take the lead. Shelton was the instigator of this goal as his corner from the right is perfect for Walker to just head on to a trio of Sports players; Reegan Morris gets the final tap in.  

Both teams came out looking either to wrap this game up or try for an equaliser. A free kick from Shelton was just wide of its mark; a fine shot by Stephen Whitley sees the best save of the afternoon by the Ravenshead keeper. At the other end Kieran Sheppard makes two fine saves and Turner heads a certain goal off the line.  

As legs and conditions got heavier every player battled well in this typical cup tie atmosphere. Sports march into the next round of the Saturday cup and Oliver Davidson-Turner picks up “The Man of the Match” award.
