With the weather conditions just right for a
competitive game of football, Ruddington kick off and start this game on a
compact pitch, which as the game progresses did not allow for creative football.
Within minutes Sports are in front, a long ball
forward from Oliver Davidson-Turner has Curtis Edwards just losing out as the
keeper beats him to the ball and kicks in to touch. A quick throw to Edwards who
gives Turner a chance fires just wide. From the goal kick Reegan Morris hits it
back to Edwards who passes, and gives Turner a second chance, this time he fires
the ball into the net to put Sports in the lead 1-0.
Is this the start of an onslaught? It could have

creating chances for their forwards, there should have been many more. The
shooting boots seemed to have been left in the pavilion. Ruddington had a few
attacks this half but they were no match for Ben Clarke and Kieran Duncan in the
Sports defence, and at half time the score remained at 1-0.
The second half begins and before Ruddington can
settle Sports make it two. Mark Shelton picks up a loose ball in the middle. He
holds on to the ball well before laying back to Worrall, Worrall sees Turner
making his run forward and pushes the ball, splitting the Ruddington defence. As
the keeper approaches from goal Turner lobs the ball into the empty net to put
Sports 2-0 up. More chances are created through the middle, and there was some
fine crosses from the right by Stephen Whitley, and the introduction of Joe
Barnes on the left gave Sports more options, but the goals did not follow. But
Sports persistence paid off and a third goal came along.
From a goal kick Farn heads back to Harry
Mcpherson-Davis, he gets round his man and taps the ball to
