Sports notch up their first double of the season as they
stretch their unbeaten run.
Carlton
held out until half-time, but then the landslide began.
The winter sunshine shone brightly as Sports get this game
underway. Sports start to build moves together well with Sam Farn, Ben Clarke
and Mark Shelton pushing balls through the middle for their forwards to run on
to, but little opportunities come at either end as both defences are tight.
The deadlock is broken however to put Sports in the lead. A
header out by Farn is picked up by
Shelton
who feeds the ball forward to Curtis Edwards, he passes to Oliver
Davidson-Turner, who keeps his footing as defenders fall, sees his chance and
drives the ball home.
Carlton
don’t give up and from a corner a long ball over the defence has an unmarked
player running in to square the match.
Carlton
’s confidence builds and it stays all square up to the break.
Early in the second half Sports take the lead, Turner
collects a clearance by Farn, controls well and pushes the ball to Shelton, he
gets round three defenders before firing into the net from just inside the
penalty area. Macauley Walker who came on at half-time increases their lead.
Shelton
wins a drop ball, forwards it to Walker, who calmly beats the keeper.
Shelton
makes it 4-1 after some fine work by
Walker
; he sets up
Shelton
who rarely misses from that distance. Number five comes from a corner on the
left. A well flighted ball from
Shelton
and Joe Barnes is there to head it in.
Carlton
have no answer to the pressure, and Sports go further ahead with a fine cross
from Barnes. In the area Harry Mcpherson- Davis is there amongst many to put the
ball into the net. Number seven comes from a poor goal kick from the
Carlton
keeper it goes straight to Walker, who easily beats the keeper to his left to
claim his second.
Carlton
win a late corner and the cross is met by Kieran Sheppard in goal, but the
fierce cross is deflected into his own goal off his gloves.
Walker
completes his hat-trick late on; Farn heads a clearance back to Walker who runs
on to fire past the keeper.
Sam Farn earns “The Man of the Match” Trophy; his many
clearances gave many chances to his lively forwards.
