Frustration... This for Sports is when their team plays so well , dominates a game, hits the woodwork so many times but concede a goal that was handled before hitting the net which denied them all three points.

Aslockton came to Newstead on the back of five wins thinking they were in for a easy ride, but were instantly proved wrong. Sports continued the same way as last week, with grit and determination. After several attempts and some good saves by the solid Aslockton keeper, Sports get a cross in from the right  through Ryan Butler which finds the brave diving header from Josh Pearson, the keeper again saves but fails to hold onto the ball and Oliver Bradbury knocks the loose ball past the keeper.1-0.

The 2nd half showed more determination from Aslockton with a lot of posession, but still struggled to break down the defence of Aaron Roberts and Morgan Jubb. Aslockton got the ball over to the left wing which was handled by the winger then passed through to the penalty area where it was converted for the equalizer. The sports midfield and defence had stopped waiting for the ref to give handball, but it was not to be.

The last ten minutes brought one of Ellis Abbott's trademark freekicks smashing against the bar and down onto the line. A corner from Matt Bloor hit the post and another effort hit the other post.

Credit has to be given to both sides for an entertaining game. The 2nd half of the season starts next Saturday against Aslockton again, I am sure that these chances we are creating will soon turn into victories.

Man of the match was Aaron Roberts who turned in a faultless performance. well done
