Hucknall Sports U9's Saturday 3 Long Eaton Utd 0
Saturday 8th November 2008
After winning a local football tournament last week, Sports were back to their best. They gained a well deserved 3 points and put in an excellent performance.
Strong attacking football from the off brought chances galore for Sports with passes to the powerful captain Ryan Butler on the right causing Long Eaton problems. Just before half time on came Sam Price for Butler, and again causing problems on the right, passed a neat ball through to Josh Pearson who fired past the keeper, 1-0. Sports were unlucky not to go in at half time with a bigger lead after hitting the bar and having 2 strong penalty decisions overturned.
The second half started much the same against the driving wind with plenty of attacks. Another good pass from Price found Oliver Bradbury on the edge of the penalty area and a fierce strike gave the keeper no chance to make it 2-0. With Sports making two more changes by bringing on Ellis Abbott and Ryan Butler they both caused havoc for Long Eaton's defence. Abbott had a drive from distance that just cleared the bar and Butler finished the scoring off with a well taken shot from the left 3-0.
Giovanni Marraffa had a quiet day in goal but when called upon made a great double save to keep a clean sheet . It was a very hard decision for Man of the match but was awarded to Morgan Jubb who was solid in defence with the improving partner Aaron Roberts.
