Hucknall Sports U9's Red (Saturday) 1 Priory Celtic 2
Saturday 11th October 2008
A great performance, but still no points!
Sports changed their usual 3 man midfield to a solid 4 with no out and out striker against a Priory side who hadn't lost this season.
The match started with Priory looking the sharper team and Sports adjusting to their new format. Midway through the 1st half Priory got the first goal with a super strike into the corner of the net. Within a few minutes Priory made it 2 with a thunderous free kick.
This seemed to be the wake up call for Sports who started to attack the Priory goal with corner after corner but just couldn't find the finishing touch until Oliver Bradbury was pushed in the back in the penalty area. Up came Captain Ryan Butler who gave the keeper no chance from the penalty spot. With just minutes left of the first half Bradbury got the ball on the left and fired in a shot that hit the crossbar (again no luck).
Sports came out the second half fighting for the equalizer, but with some excellent well timed tackles and defending Priory held on for the win. Sports put in a great performance, with man of the match and team captain Ryan Butler giving everything to get a goal.
Keep putting in the same effort and your true league position will show.
