Long Eaton Utd 0 Hucknall Sports U9's Red 1

Saturday 21st March 2009

After the highs from last Saturdays semi final win, Sports returned to league action with a tough fixture at Long Eaton.

Sports started with a changed line up with Joseph Palethorpe starting up front, Ellis Abbott on the right wing and Sam Price on the left. Long Eaton settled their play quicker than Sports and kept the defence of Aaron Roberts and Morgan Jubb alert. Some nice passing from Sports just couldnt find the end result with shots being blocked by the Long Eaton defence. A great save from keeper Giovanni Marraffa kept Sports level at half time turning a well hit shot round the post.

Three changes at half time brought on Matt Bloor on the left ,Ryan Butler on the right and Oliver Bradbury up front. Again both sides were creating chances with some good passing moves. Sports eventually broke the deadlock with a ball through from Josh Pearson who  found Ryan Butler running onto the ball and made no mistake with a shot into the bottom corner. Matt Bloor had to be replaced with Joseph Palethorpe after pulling up with a injury.

Another hard fought victory. Well done boys. Man of the match went to Morgan Jubb who gave a solid performance in defence.
