YEL Cup
Having played Toton the previous week in the league, Sports new they had to take advantage of the sloping pitch in the 1st half.
Toton started the match full of confidence playing some good passes, but were unable to breakdown the Sports defence of Morgan Jubb, Aaron Roberts and the commanding keeper Giovanni Marraffa. Sports started to find their feet and some good passing between Josh Pearson and Sam Price found Oliver Bradbury who put the ball beyond the keeper making it 1-0. Sports made 2 subs bringing on Matt Bloor and Ellis Abbott. Abbott received the ball just inside his own half, went past a midfielder on the right and unleashed an unstoppable shot over the keeper into the roof of the net to make it 2-0. Joseph Palethorpe replaced Bradbury just before half time and had a shot that was just wide of the post.
The 2nd half started much the same with a lot of possession for Sports with the ever impressive Pearson raising his game and commanding the midfield and feeding many balls through to Palethorpe who just couldn't find the back of the net. In the end it was left for Pearson to put the game beyond Toton's reach and put Sports in the next round with a firm header past the keeper.
Man of the match was Morgan Jubb who has formed a good partnership with Roberts, who is still new to the team and is still adapting to the speed of 1st division football, covering and helping him along.
Well done boys 3-0 again, the effort is now paying off.
