Hucknall Sports U9's Red 2 Carlton Town 0
Saturday 31st January 2009
This match was a 6 pointer with Carlton being 3 points behind Sports near the bottom of the table, so only a win was any good to either team.
Sports started with the same 7 that won in the cup the previous week. Straight from the whistle Sports attacked the Carlton goal with some excellent passing and movement.Carlton just couldnt cope with amount of pressure Sports put on them and with a good cross from Ryan Butler and a quick reaction shot from Oliver Bradbury, gave the keeper no chance to make it 1-0.More passing from the whole of fthe team, Josh Pearson and Aaron Roberts at the back, Morgan Jubb in midfield, Matt Bloor on the left and Ryan Butler on the right brought an almost identical goal from Oliver Bradbury. With 5 minutes until half time Morgan Jubb limped off injured after a heavy challenge and on came battling Sam Price in midfield.
The second half started much the same with chances galore, but Sports just couldn't get the third. On come Ellis Abbott and Joseph Palethorpe for Butler and Bloor. More surging runs brings another cross which Bradbury heads just around the post. Carlton begin to find their momentum and had a scortching shot just wide of the goal. Bradbury was forced to limp off with an ankle injury and Bloor quickly returned to the action.
The match ended 2-0 to Sports, unfortunatley with some injuries for both sides but all from fair tackles. A good entertaining match played with the right attitude and respect from both teams.
A great team performance from Sports, just showing what excellent football they are capable of from the keeper to the striker.
