Caribbean Cavaliers 3 Hucknall Sports U10's Red 4

Saturday 31st October 2009

YEL Saturday Division 1

On current form this looked like an easy fixture for Sports as Cavaliers had not won this season but football can be a funny game when you are top of the league and everyone wants to beat you.

Sports started in typical fashion trying to set the pace, but were up against a very physical side not giving them the chance to play their neat passing game. After a couple of missed chances, Sports took the lead through Ryan Butler with a follow on to last weeks super strike. More pressure from Sports almost found a 2nd goal when a great passing move involving Josh Pearson,Oliver Bradbury and Jaydan Thorne went across an open goal.

Butler got his 2nd goal with a great battle with the defender, getting his foot to the ball first and placing past the advancing keeper.

Goal number 3 came when a great shot from Pearson hit the crossbar and was followed in by Bradbury.

The half time team talk gave Cavaliers a big boost, winning a lot of challenges and almost immediatley got themselves a goal.

A single run by Cavaliers midfielder got them back in the game after riding many tackles from Sports and firing past the unlucky Luke Watson in goal. Sports needed to find a different game play as Cavaliers were blocking everything they threw at them.
At 3-2 Sports needed a bit of breathing space and so found it when Butler completed his hat trick with another cool finish, only to be short lived when Cavaliers came back to make it 4-3 with 5 minutes to play. Sports wanted to win this battle and put the nail biting spectators through a defending last few minutes.

Final Score 3-4 win for Sports.

Sports have now played against good strong physical sides and have come through with victories, but now face a challenge against Blidworth Welfare in the FA Shield who like Sports, like to play attacking, passing football. Keep it up boys you have a hard month ahead.

Man of the match went to Ryan Butler, not only for his hat trick, but for his strong challenges against his strongest opposition so far this season.
