Hucknall Sports Whites first tournament of the summer provided a chance for the fringe players in the squad to show what they could do. For many of the squad this was their first experience of a tournament format and the Whites arrived at Highfields Hockey ground in relaxed mood.

Playing in a competitive division, Hucknall managed to make the semi-finals by finishing second in their league thanks to two wins and a draw.

 

Drawn against Wilford Lions in the semi's Hucknall found themselves a goal down with only 2 mins left on the clock. But a thrilling finale saw Dante Diriso score directly from a well practised corner and then with only seconds left up stepped birthday-boy Oliver Bowley to smash Hucknall into the final with a shot from the edge of the box. As the final whistle blew the Hucknall team ran the length of the pitch to pile high in celebration.

A valiant effort by the entire squad of 8 players in the final saw them narrowly fail to take the winners trophy after losing out to a classy Greenwood Meadows first team.

 

Man of the Tournament went to Kal Orton for a fantastic display of goalkeeping, but congratulations goes to all the squad for a great effort to win our first trophy of the summer.
