Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2009

Under 10's

Managers Comments

Our third year playing competitive football saw Whites playing in League 2 against teams of similar abilities, the majority of who set out to play good football.

As seems to be the pattern for Whites, the team got off to a slow start and narrowly lost their first three games, but after the turn of the year the boys showed their full potential and only lost 2 more league games, playing a brand of entertaining, intelligent football. Amongst the many highlights two stand out above all others, narrowly losing in the Semi Final of the Trophy and beating the league leaders Ilkeston Juniors, a team that only lost two games all season.

Thanks to all the boys for listening to the coaches and putting all their efforts into this seasons matches. Also, thanks to the mums and dads for their support and making sure the boys turn up to matches on time and in good spirits. The Manager and Coaches look forward to next season when we play 11-a-side for the first time with every confidence that the team will continue their progress and play open, attractive, football.

Players, Player of the Year

James Hallam

James follows up last years Managers Player award by taking the Players Player award this year. His blistering pace and rocket-powered shots make James the perfect striker. He is a gifted footballer who sets his expectation level high.

James is one of those players who make the hairs stand-up on the back of your neck when you see him in full flow on the soccer pitch. He is a driving force for the team, in fact, when James plays well then the whole team plays well.

The team and coaches look forward to next season with James leading the charge once more.

Most Improved Player

Kal Orton

This award was voted for by the parents of the boys and up until the last vote any one of four boys could have won the title of Most Improved Player. But the eventual winner was Kal Orton.

Kal is one of the quietest boys on the team, always polite and willing to learn new things. He has played in almost every position on the pitch this season including Goalkeeper from time to time. He is brilliant at man-marking, strong in the tackle and brave. His energy is limitless which is vital for a midfielder who can attack and defend all game long, scoring goals as well stopping them.

This is a well deserved award for all the hard work that Kal has put in during training and at home. Well done and good luck for next season.

Managers, Player of the Year

Ellis Evans

Ellis, otherwise know as the Welsh Wizard, has had a great season both as a player and as an individual. Blessed with a fantastic first-touch, the ability to see a pass in the blink of an eye and wonderful skills to beat a man, he has always had the potential to be a ‘special’ player.

But this season Ellis has shown a great maturity in his play and made simple, but telling passes to link midfield with attack time and again. More importantly for his manager he has become more tolerant of others and has learnt to encourage his team mates and support their efforts.

We look forward to working with Ellis for many more seasons and can’t wait for his midfield ‘master classes’ to start again in September
