Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2009
Under 12's Red

Managers Comments
What more can a manager ask for? A fantastic season from start to finish, winning the Challenge Shield, Division One and finalists in the League Cup.
The players have risen to every challenge throughout the season, also winning the Filey tournament for the third year running at 6 and 11 a side. With a 16 player squad of gifted and willing players this season’s first 11 has been a difficult job, but without substitutes there could be no team and they all deserve the silverware they’ve won this season, with only one defeat all season and over 150 goals scored in league and cup games.
Also thanks for the mums and dads who have supported the team on and off the pitch, whether making hot drinks, taking nets down or running the line, big thanks from myself, Neil and the players.

Players, Player of the Year Mark Shelton As he was voted by his team mates as the player’s player he now becomes next season’s captain. With all the votes in and counted this season, there could only be one winner. With a great season behind them this award could have been credited to any player, although the teams voting has cast only one contender. This player has been an inspiration to others and has lead by example not only on the pitch but also off. He has worn his shirt with pride like many others. He has produced some excellent football, with great vision, daring runs and superb finishing throughout the season. His dead ball shots have been a joy to watch, with great technical ability. Opposition managers have often spoken about his talent and wished he played for them. |

Sportsman / Most Improved Player Macauley Walker Voted by the parents who come week in week out, looking for a player who has grown within the side and developed his own abilities. With great improvement throughout the side and all players having a great season this player has stood head and shoulders above the rest. His ability to make “something from nothing “has been remarkable. His strength, ability and will to win have made him one of the best forwards in the league. I can only see him getting better as he has stepped into a strong side and earned the respect from his team mates.

Managers, Player of the Year Kieran (Ronnie) Sheppard With sixteen players playing their part week in week out to only pick one this season has been a difficult task. Looking back over the season’s games eventually one player, who has been with us some years in several positions, has finally made one his own. Parents, managers and referee’s all speak highly of this player as when called upon is second to none. Not only skilled in football but also with the making of mud pies, daisy chains and arm folding. I have been told by opposing managers he is “the best in the league”, “I could kick him he’s that good” and “can you leave him at home next time”. With his dad finally accepting that although a quality out-field player he is also an excellent keeper who is admired by his team mates. |
