Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2009
Under 15's Saturday
Managers Comments
The Under 15’s Saturday started the season short of outfield players and with no first choice goalkeeper. The first game we had 9 players and dropped to 8 with injuries. Needless to say a heavy defeat and this pattern continued for the first 5 games. Game 6 and we had 11 including a goalkeeper but still lost 5-2.
As we attracted new players
some existing players went by the wayside or other commitments kept some players
away on match day. However, we have always had a core of 7 or 8 good players who
are there every week for the cause. We normally managed 10 players which is not
enough to compete for 80 minutes in the under 15’s. Most games were tight
until half time, but the extra player and substitutes were always the difference
in the second half. By Christmas two of the teams we have beaten in past seasons
folded as they had taken some heavy defeats as we had and struggled for players
as we had, but we carried on, and signed new players towards the end of the
season taking our squad to 16.
The penultimate game of the
season, a good turnout of 15, saw a narrow loss to mid table
It’s not been easy for us all but thank you.

Players, Player of the Year Shane Davis The winner of this award is a player who always gives his all. He played most of the season in defence always talking and trying to encourage the other lads, indeed this is one of the reasons we gave him the captain’s armband midway through the season. His drive and enthusiasm and wanting to do his best and get the best from the team has also been recognised by his team mates. |

Most Improved Player Alex Whyley This player lifted the team when he joined and also lifted the manager’s moral with his commitment to winning the ball, often putting his head and winning where others may not have been so bold. His solid performances won him man of the match awards towards the end of the season. He has improved with every game making him one of the first names other players ask if he is playing today, such has been his impact. |

| Managers, Player of the Year
George Ball Always a difficult choice but made even harder when two players have done an outstanding job in the same pivotal position under difficult circumstances throughout the season. It has been a very tough decision, the winner of this award won man of the match awards on a number of occasions and praise from opposition managers for his heroic efforts in trying to keep the ball out the back of the net. |
