Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2009

Under 9's Red

Managers Comments

Started pre season coming runners up in the Carlton and Sports tournaments and winning the Woodhouse Colts Mansfield Tournament.

After losing our player of season just before the season started,we had to reshuffle which set us back for the first few games in a strong 1st division. We entered a local tournament in October and won, which seemed to turn our season. We finally ended up in 6th spot, but got through to the final of the YEL Cup against a Priory Celtic side that had already beaten us twice in the season. After going 2 goals down in the 1st 10 minutes against the run of play, Sports produced a performance that anyone who watched will agree was outstanding, scoring 4 goals to go in 4-2 at half time. There was no let up in the 2nd half with Sports scoring 2 more goals to make it 6-2. Priory managed to get themselves 2 goals to end the match 6-4.What an end to a season!

We have just taken part at the Filey Tournament and finished runners up in the plate, winning 7, draw 2, lost 1 and have finished losing the final 1-0 at Cotgrave tournament out of 23 teams.

Paul Bradbury & Darren Jubb

Players, Player of the Year

Aaron Roberts

When the manager got a call from another of Sports managers about a lad he spotted at a school match, he gave this boys dad a call to invite him down for a trial at the start of the season. This boy was very quiet, but showed he had the ability to be signed up. He never moaned about being sub for the early games whilst we found his best position.

Once he had played a couple of games the defensive position became his and he was determined not to give his position up. Match after match this lad got better and better and has formed this great understanding with Morgan.

This is probably the best award given becase it is chosen by all your  team mates and was a majority decision.

Most Improved Player

Morgan Jubb

This boy started at soccer school at 5 years old and has made  massive contributions  to our team over the seasons, with his solid defending and good attacking abilities.

He has formed an amazing defensive partnership with his team mate Aaron. He has also filled in at midfield when called upon and never gives up even when losing.

This award has been voted by all the parents.

Managers, Player of the Year

Oliver Bradbury

This award goes to a boy who again started at Soccer School just before Morgan at 5 years old and has shown great improvement over the last two seasons.

He can play on the left wing or as a striker and has the ability to play with both feet. He has scored 45 league goals in the last 2 seasons and has an engine that never stops running. He has learnt to close down defenders and has great vision when passing the ball.

Having listened to opinions from parents and other team managers and also picking up the most man of the match awards this season, the managers player of the season went to Oliver.
