Annual Awards Presentation Evenings 2010

This is our 33rd year and not many youth clubs can better this remarkable achievement and today the club is running junior soccer teams from Under 7’s  through to Under 18’s, together with a very successful Soccer School for the under 6’s.

Chris Freestone & his wife Janice. Chris is joint manager at Arnold FC with Martin Carruthers and his son currently plays for the U13's Black side. He is a local lad, born in Nottingham and graduated through local youth football and started his senior career at Arnold Town FC in 1993-94 season as a striker.

From then on made the step into professional football with Middlesborough for whom he was with for 3 seasons before moving on to Carlisle, Northampton Town , Hartlepool and eventually finishing his playing career at Forest Green Rovers.

Mick Raynor. Mick is one of our honourary vice presidents but equally he has worked for various professional clubs as the Director of various Youth Acadamy’s including Nottingham Forest , Leicester City , Coventry City and is currently at Bolton Wanderers being involved with the first team.

Robert Wheat (Bob). Bob is a previous Chairman of Hucknall Sports and was instrumental in those early days in setting the club up back in 1977. Hr was also a very successful manager for Sports and still continues to play a major roll in the club after all these years. He is a true ambassador for Hucknall Sports YCFC.

Phil Shrewsbury and his wife Mollie. Phil is one of our honorary vice presidents and over the years has been a very loyal follower of Hucknall Sports and is well renowned around both the professional and local areas for his coaching ability and exceptional talent which is second to none.  Been with Leicester and Coventry City.

Maurice Simpson & Sharon Watson.  From the Young Elizebethan League two members of the management committee and no strangers to Hucknall Sports.

A Record Breaking Year for Hucknall Sports


Success on the field  this season has truly been an historic moment in the history of Hucknall Sports with no fewer than 12 trophies won by the club at different age groups.

4 League Championships won at Under 9’s, Under 11’s, Under 12’s and Under 13’s

2 League championship runners up at U10’s and U15’s

3 YEL Cup Finals with the Under 10’s, Under 13’s Sat & Trophy Final for Under 13’s Sunday

A YEL fair play award won by our U12’s Black side

Second consecutive year as Notts FA Shield winners at Under 13’s for the club after 33 years, a remarkable success for the Under 13’s Sat with Martin Whitley & the Under 10’s narrowly losing 1-0 in their FA Shield semi final.

Regional winners of the TESCO U13’s Trophy at Under 13’s only to lose in the final at Pride Park on penalties.
