Derek Day and Bob Wheat,
Joint winners of the The Irene Flint Individual Award.
This is probably the biggest award the club has to present to an individual. It is presented to the person we feel has done the most to promote the name of Hucknall Sports. It is donated and presented by Mr Ciss Flint, Irene’s widower, who for many years has paid for the running costs of our previous presentation nights. Unfortunately due to ill health Ciss was not able to be with us and we hope he soon recovers. Over the years Ciss has been a very true and loyal supporter of Hucknall Sports.
Derek Day, has been involved with the club since its conception in 1977. He has promoted Hucknall Sports in a way that no one else could have done over those years. He has fought long & hard to fight the clubs cause in respect of Wigwam, whatever the weather. He has always been in the thick of things in all weathers marking out pitches, trying to influence the YEL in running youth competitions, sorting toilet facilities at the Wigwam and promoting & encouraging youngsters to join the club. Probably his biggest asset is his willingness to support youth football and over these past 25 years he has put so much time & effort that this is little reward for his loyalty & unending support to this club.

It doesn’t stop there because when we were
looking at this award it was extremely difficult to separate a very
distinguished partnership that has developed over these past 25 years. A
team always needs a stabilising influence and the other member of this
very successful team, Bob Wheat, has certainly provided this over these
past 25 years & it was impossible to separate them for this award.

We as a club are just very grateful that Derek & Bob have accepted the position of Club President & Vice president respectively as not only this club, but the whole of Hucknall should be indebted to their outstanding contribution to over these past 25 years.
| Jill Day & Mal Wheat are two people who
have had a major support & influencing role over Derek & Bob over
the past 25 years. They have done some sterling work in the background in
supporting this club with their husbands. The club thanks you very much
for your outstanding support.
