Annual Awards Presentation Evenings 2004

Chairman's Remarks on the Evening

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Hucknall Sports annual  presentation evening.  This is our 27th year and not many youth clubs can better this remarkable achievement and today the club is at its strongest, going from strength to strength running junior soccer teams from Under 7’s  through to Under 16’s together with a very successful Soccer School for the under 7’s. This season has achieved so many things both on and off the field with some of the highlights being:-

A very successful 6aside tournament with over 750 boys taking part

Various recreational activities for a number of teams including visits to Manchester United, Nottm Forest and the under7’s playing at Meadow Lane

The setting up of our very own website which has won awards for the quality of information and is used by the club as an interactive communication tool with over 9200 visits in 10 months.

The major highlight was the success of the club in attaining the F.A. Development club standard which is recognition of the tremendous amount of  commitment, dedication and support that we as a club have committed to  in line with FA requirements to better the standards of support that we provide for all of our teams.

The exciting challenge of a proposed new ground in the future

A very successful May day soccer tournament at Yarmouth when no fewer than 6 of our teams took part, with the under 11’s being successful and the under 13’s finishing runners up, with over 200 people having a good time which was the most important aspect of the event.

VOTE OF THANKS

The first vote of thanks must go to an elite group of people who without them, there would be no Hucknall Sports sides. They are our Team  Managers and deserve all our plaudits, because lads if they did not take on this vital role the club just would not operate and there would be no football teams.  To all our managers and assistant managers we are deeply indebted, thank you one and all.

I would like to say a very big thank you to our industrious secretary Mr Alwyn Sears, where would we be without you, you deserve all the credit for keeping the club on an even keel.  Also to our treasurer Mrs Mal Wheat for all her work during the last year keeping a watchful eye on our finances.

Thanks also to all our hard working committee in whatever capacity you have provided help, it is truly appreciated. Also thanks to our President Derek Day and our Vice president Bob Wheat for their continued support to the club.

The club also depends on a small army of helpers – parents, grandparents, friends and supporters. All who help with transport, putting up of nets, kit washing, refereeing, running the line and many other tasks.  You all help to make our club work, and on behalf of Hucknall Sports I would like to thank you all.

At this point I would like to thank our sponsors both new and existing for showing interest in junior football. These include UCI Logistics, Alweeton Group of Sutton, Robert Spray,  F.J. Bamkin, Certa Cito, S.P Electronics, British Bakeries, Wilcon Homes, Keycraft, T.N.T. & Tesco. New this year are B&A Photographics, CC Refrigeration, Apex Windows, Greenwood Dental Laboratory, UK Textiles, BJS Plumbing and Heating, Complete Sign Experience, RD Interiors, Abacus Lighting and finally and most recently Venture off Road----Thank you one and all.

Finally to all you young people here tonight, I would like to thank you all for coming along each week to play for Hucknall Sports and I hope you enjoy your football and are proud to put the shirts on.  Remember for all these things to happen someone has put in a lot of hard work, the main player in all this is your manager.  The manager gives up their time and money to run a junior football team, hopefully for enjoyment or it would not be done.  These people I am afraid are very thin on the ground so respect your manager as a person and someone who gives you a game of football.  Thanks to you all whatever your age group.
