Under 9's

Sportsman of the Year

If the attributes needed to become a professional footballer were the willingness to learn, the eagerness to improve, the vision to play good passes, the ability to never give up and to be able to permanently have a big smile on your face then this player will be turning pro at a very young age.

Every team needs its squad members, every team needs its super subs, every club in the world needs players who can perform when asked, albeit sometimes in a short space of time or with little opportunity and indeed even grab themselves a few goals, just as this player has done this season. The U9’s are lucky enough to have a player just like this.

This lads technical ability will mean, given time, he will improve immensely and all involved with the team knows he will put 100% effort into achieving the highest standards that he can attain.

Players, Player of the Year

With many players having such good seasons we are sure that most of the lads will have found it difficult to give their vote to just one player. Although a few players were in the running the eventual winner got a large majority of his team mates adoration.

Our winner this season, as we are sure his parents will vouch for, is the stereotypical nine year old who eats, drinks and sleeps football. 100% dedication does not even come close to explain this lads commitment to play football and above all play football to a very high standard.

The reasons for him gaining so many of his team mates votes are plenty, but  the main two are his ability to nip past opponents as though they’re not there plus the simple fact that he has scored well over twenty goals this campaign.

A player who makes any training drill  a pleasure due to his imagination and flare and someone who undoubtedly will go on to play a high class of football for a long time to come.

Managers, Player of the Year

It would be fair to say that with half of the season gone , at least half a dozen players had got off to outstanding starts with many great individual performances shining through.

However, it became apparent from around xmas time that one player was starting to stand out as someone whose endeavour, grit and determination was starting to have huge influences on the teams overall performance.

Indeed this player proceeded to take nearly all the man of the match awards in the latter part of the season and when not being awarded that accolade you can guarantee that he would have been a close second.

Considering also, the fact that this lad has been asked to play a completely different position to that of last year and also weighing in with a fine goal tally, which included a fantastic double strike in the teams monumental 7-3 victory over Carlton Town. Not bad at all for a central defender.

A fairly easy decision for the managers to make and one that we are sure will be whole heartedly agreed with by both team mates and parents alike.
