Sportsman of the Year Michael South This award goes to a player who has been more often than not a substitute but still shows up at training and games every week. This player watches the games or warms up with a ball without begging to go on and when he gets on gives his all. He tackles, passes and even scores, with his solo goal at Wollaton Hall being amongst the best of the season, beating three before slipping the ball past the advancing keeper. This player has had to suffer, being fooled in to supporting the blue and white hoops from the soft south and not seen much success. Well success is now here with the runners up trophy. |

Players Player of the Year Joe Gill What can you say about this player without every one knowing who it is straight away? He is very polite, has a great sense of humour and kind to animals as long as they are not playing football, but that’s enough of his bad points. This player over the last three seasons has made every player respect him for the type of football he plays and the commitment he puts in to it. He knows what he wants and is not shy in letting others know what it is, he wants to do the best he can in helping his team win. This player takes no
prisoners and what you see is what you get and some day’s boy do they
get it. He leads by example from the first tackle to the last, they are
all the same, straight out of Stuart Pearce’s hand book. He motivates
the team and if things are not happening he makes them happen. This player
gets kicked as much as the ball some games but he still goes on runs with
the ball, throws himself in for diving headers, he scores goals just when
you need one and he beats the floor with frustration when a shot goes wide
and your 3-0 up. Brick walls mean just another challenge to this player.

Managers, Player of the Year Matthew Brierley This player runs from the car to the pitch at home games say’s hello as he runs past you to join the kick about. No he’s not late just keen to join in. This midfielder is one who gets on with the game and may not stand out during most games, but he has had his moments this season. But when you sit down to write up the match report and recall the games highlights his name will be there as the player who blocked the shot, made the tackle, made the pass, started the movement that made the goal all without you being fully aware of this players presence in the game. This player takes in what
you ask him to do and gets on with it, if you give him instruction in the
game he carries them out and still stays inconspicuous while maintaining
control of the midfield. This player reads the game and can see events
before they can develop and stops them. His passing is to feet and often
gets attacks started with his telling pass, we hope this skill continues
and that he can improve the finishing them off skill as well. |
