Annual Awards Presentation Evenings 2007

Chairman's Opening Remarks on the Evening
This
is our 30th year and not many youth clubs can better this remarkable
achievement and today the club is at its strongest, going from strength to
strength, running junior soccer teams from Under 7’s
through to under 16’s, together with a very successful Soccer School
for the under 6’s.
This season has achieved so many things both on and off the field with some of the highlights being :
Ten more of our coaches accredited to FA level 1, which means everyone of our teams is now operating with formal FA qualifications.
The continuing evidence that we as a club are consistently making, applying the FA charter standards to continually improve the standards of support that we provide for all of our teams today.
The exciting challenge of a proposed new ground in the future although somewhat delayed due to a local action group that ultimately could have a serious impact on our future.
The Easter soccer tournament held at Filey when a number of our teams took part and were successful during the competition.
A very successful 6-a-side tournament with over 750 boys from Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire taking part for the first time on the Annie Holgate school campus.
Vote
of Thanks
The
first vote of thanks goes to an elite group of people who without them, there
would be no Hucknall Sports sides.
They
are our Team Managers and deserve
all our plaudits, because if they did not take on this vital role, the club just
would not operate and there would be no football teams. To all our managers and
assistant managers we are deeply indebted and we thank you one and all.

I would like to say a very big thank you to our industrious
secretary Mr Alwyn Sears, where would we be without you, you deserve all the
credit for keeping the club on an even keel.
Also, thanks to our treasurer Mrs Mal Wheat for all her tremendous work
during the last year keeping a watchful eye on our finances.
Thanks also to all our hard working committee in whatever
capacity you have provided help, it is truly appreciated.
Also thanks to our President Derek Day and our Vice president
Bob Wheat for their continued involvement and support to the club.
The club also depends on a small army of helpers – parents,
grandparents, friends and supporters, all who help with transport, putting up of
nets, kit washing, refereeing, running the line and many other tasks.
You all help to make our club work, and on behalf of Hucknall Sports I
would like to thank you all.
Also a very special thank you to all the staff at Hucknall Sports shop who do a tremendous amount of work for the club in many various ways.
Sponsors
I would like to thank our sponsors both new and existing for
showing interest in junior football. These include UCI Logistics, Alweeton Group
of Sutton, Robert Spray, F.J.
Bamkin, Certa Cito, S.P Electronics, British Bakeries, Wilcon Homes, Keycraft,
T.N.T., Tesco, new this year are B&A Photographic, CC Refrigeration, Apex
Windows, Greenwood Dental laboratory, UK Textiles, BJS Plumbing and Heating,
Complete Sign Experience, RD Interiors, Abacus Lighting, Venture off Road and
Whitley Roofing. Thank you one and all.
Finally
to all you young people here tonight, I would like to thank you all for coming
along each week to play for Hucknall Sports, I hope you enjoy your football and
are proud to put the shirts on each week.
Remember
for all these things to happen someone has put in a lot of hard work, the main
player in all this is your manager. The
manager gives up their time and money to run a junior football team, hopefully
for enjoyment or it would not be done. These
people I am afraid are very thin on the ground so respect your manager as a
person and someone who gives you a game of football.
Thanks to you all whatever your age group.
Guests
of Honour
I
am delighted to welcome Mr Phil Crompton, Headmaster of the Holgate School who,
like ourselves, is celebrating 30years this year within his own school
activities. This gentleman has been an inspiration to a number of local school
children in the way that he has significantly improved the performance of one of
our major schools within Hucknall. I must also say a very big thank you to him
for allowing us to use his premises for our annual junior soccer tournament
following the demise of Wigwam playing fields and I must say he has been
extremely positive in all that we have asked for.
I
am also delighted to welcome Andy & Carol Eastwood, Chairman of Linby Ladies
Football Club. Andy & his wife Carol do an absolutely fantastic job putting
Linby Ladies to the fore for girls football and have achieved FA Charter
Development Club standard. We also have an established link with Linby
Ladies and probably need to do more to further cement the 2 clubs. Knowing how
much work they both put in to girls football we are delighted to welcome them to
be part of our awards evening tonight.
