Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2007

Under 10's Red

Before the league had started this young side had challenged in summer tournaments winning the Ashfield cup, runners up in the Toton tournament and quarter finalists in Calverton and our own tournaments.

This exciting start pre-season followed throughout the league with 26 matches played, 22 won, 2 draws and 2 defeats winning the league title, with 119 goals scored and only 14 conceded. The success continued with an amazing YEL knock-out cup run with our team finishing as Saturday Under 10’s winners. With no fewer than 14 players signed on this season with every player playing their part to win this amazing double, and reaching the quarter finals of the Under 10’s shield.

As a manager for Hucknall Sports I set high standards at training and match days to which all the boys have achieved and kept up throughout this long and hard season, with all credit for their own success going to this hard working team.

A fantastic time was had by all this Easter at Filey as we came away with a plate winner’s trophy, within a tournament with 11 games unbeaten and only conceding 1 goal.

A big thank-you goes to all the parents who have helped and supported throughout the season.

Players, Player of the Year

Ben Clarke

With a season like this one, player’s player was always going to be a contested one as there have been many superb performances in so many matches by so many players.

Eventually as the votes were counted it became clear that every player had a vote either 1st or second throughout the team. This only made clear the bond within the team for each other. The final count went to a player who has played willingly in any position asked of him.

A player who is respected by his peers and by the opposing team as a great talent. This player takes no prisoners on the pitch regardless of their size with hard fair tackling and determination beyond his years. An outstanding season for this popular player has earned him the prestigious player’s player trophy.

Sportsman / Most Improved Player

Dean Harris

This trophy could had been presented to all 14 lads as they have matured individually as players gaining new skill’s and levels of ability and fitness.

The voting went out to the parents to pick the eventual winner.

His commitment is second to none as he has made this position his own. He is truly a team player who has never moaned when substituted, always willing to learn and has found a strong voice when complimenting his team mates. This year’s most improved player goes to Dean Harris with no less than 14 clean sheets in the league alone.

Managers, Player of the Year

Rian Charles

This young man has shown 100% commitment to his manager and team mates and wears his red and white stripes with pride.

There has never been a wrong word said to a team mate or his manager and is a player the lads look up to for his strength, courage and ability. This young man has been the engine driver in a well oiled winning machine. He has won several man of the match awards within the league and cup.

He has been an absolute pleasure to coach and to watch himgrow into an excellent all round player. A strong contender for player’s player goes to show how important his role is within the side.
