Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2007

Under 11's White

I would firstly like to thank all the players who, to the whites this season,  had the faith to stay with us when it looked bad especially Joe Priestley and Ryan Harrison who hung on from last season.

Having said that what a season of ups and downs. September just enough for a team, October we finally start to play league games and our new team suffer defeats every week. November a bad month with a massive defeat away to the future champions making players wonder if it would ever improve, but it did.

The players kept trying and December we won a cup match which was like winning the league, we also only lost 6-0 to the future champions a brilliant turn around in four weeks. Christmas came and went and the results got in to single figures but still the team kept improving.

Then on sunny day in February at Bingham it clicked and the dream turned into reality, a brilliant first forty minutes left sports 4-0 up yes four, and despite nearly throwing it away we hung on for our first league win at 4-3.

We then we three games without defeat collecting a win and a draw. Gone were the heavy defeats, we lost by silly odd goals but this team has performed miracles over the season and if they can keep it up next season who knows.

Players, Player of the Year

Joe Priestley

What can we say about this player? He tackles like his grandmother! is cheeky and has got a great nature. This player has a shot on him that we wish he would use more often having scored some pearlers this season.

It is his peers who have voted for him with whom he never falls out or says a bad word against. He also this season has overcome a serious illness from last summer to carry on playing the game he loves and making others respect him.

Sportsman / Most Improved Player

George Lomas

This player was new at the start of the season. He not played in a team or league before, was not sure of his position, but willing to learn listen and keen to win.

During games his ability to tackle started to shine through and after a change to defence helped him settle in. He is now a first choice who puts himself in the action and is learning every game he plays. This player has developed in a massive way over the season so much that this was an easy choice for most the most improved player.

Managers, Player of the Year

Jordan Fell

This decision was hard. From a squad of twenty two players over the season, to pick one had us talking for weeks, changing our minds time and time again because each and every player in this team has put in a performance worthy of this award.

After twice choosing the team we narrowed it down but still the choice got no easier and after being locked in a room for hours one player pinched it.

His performance in games can be erratic but the punching the floor in anger when things go wrong shows his passion to play well and win. This player is full on and at times can be a challenge, but most who play in this position are. Slowly we are getting through and if he continues to progress as well over the next year the choice may not be so hard.
