Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2007

Under 13's Sunday

performances from this team resulting in a final placing of 8th in a very competitive and tough league.

On occasions this team has produced some fine performances with a thrilling 4-3 defeat in the cup to the league runners up one of the highlights followed by some real lows as a number of teams have inflicted heavy defeats upon them.

Consistent performers such as Ryan Ward, Jack Mosedale and Eamon Loftus never gave less than 100 percent and midfielders Anthony Timmins and Sam Henderson provided the determination that is needed to be successful at this level.

However as the boys get older and bigger the knocks and bumps sustained in a season take their toll and some, like Skipper  Joe Wells have tried to play when perhaps they should have rested but this only goes to prove the great team spirit which exists within this team.

A few new boys have joined us this year Luke Cutts in goal keeping us in a number of games with some great saves and Liam Ward and Kane Orange battling away in midfield. Also we found our own Gary Lineker as Ryan Mcginn signed late in the season but still managed to poach a number of goals all less than 3 yards from the goal line I might add!

The only thing this team lacks is a little more self discipline and a little more self belief because really with the talent that’s in this team they should be aiming for a top three finish next year.

Players, Player of the Year

Nathan Giugno

This award is chosen by the players themselves and the winner of this is a popular boy who, whilst being an uncompromising defender, can on occasions score goals and is always willing to put himself in were it hurts.

He is never afraid to speak his mind, although it might be nice if the manager got a chance to speak back every now and then!

Sportsman / Most Improved Player

Jack Caudwell

At a recent meeting the committee couldn’t decide what to call this award but this boy settled the argument for us as he his no doubt a great Sportsman. He has he never moaned when he was on the bench at the start of the season. He didn’t stop coming training because he wasn’t starting on a Sunday morning he came and he trained hard and then when he got his chance he took it and has been superb at the heart of our defence.

He is the most improved player this year by a mile and now one of the first names on the team sheet.

Managers, Player of the Year

Sam Woodcock

Just occasionally a manager gets to say I told you so and this is one of those occasions.

Having watched this boy perform for Saturday teams and South Nott’s Boys we predicted a bright future in football for this boy and was very pleased when he signed for us this year

He has been outstanding in either defence or midfield where we have asked him to play for the second half of the season

His work rate his phenomenal, his tackling tough and in midfield another side of him has come through as he has both created and scored a number of goals.
