Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2008

Under 14's White

A hard season for the lads as they started minus a number of players who had moved on to pastures new and this showed at the start of the season. However, as always with this team the spirit was there from the start and results began to improve as the team got to know the new signings and as usual they all started to work for one another.

Some strong performances against teams at the top of the league proved a platform for the lads to secure some solid draws and victories soon followed with a narrow home win against Arnold and an impressive 3-0 win away at Trent Rangers. The final game of the season saw a narrow loss to high flying Kimberley who were, by their own managers admission, totally outplayed for much of the game and the boys left the field with their heads held high knowing once again they had given their best, and that, in the end, is all you can ask for.

Players, Player of the Year

Ryan (Teddy) Ward

When the votes were cast this year there was a unanimous winner, indeed virtually every member of the squad voted for the same player. What they recognised was that clearly here is a boy who can and does play at a higher level but he was willing to give his all in division 3 as he got on with all of the lads and just enjoyed playing football.

Played firstly in defence and then moved into central midfield his non stop energy and tough tacking shone in every game and he never came off the pitch unless he had given his all. A popular and reliable lad we wish him well at Carlton next season.

The player’s player of the year by a mile

Sportsman / Most Improved Player

George Ball

In a team where there have been a number of newcomers this award has been the most difficult to decide upon. However, what has clinched this award for the winner is his appetite in training as well as on the pitch. He works hard for the team and is not afraid to get back and do his defensive duties as well as run at the opposition with the ball at his feet, he also has an uncanny knack of popping up with a crucial goal or two. He won this award for his all round hard work and his ability to take on advice and produce it on the pitch every Saturday.

Managers, Player of the Year

Jak Craig

This award goes to someone who has been with us a number of years now and has yet to walk away with a trophy. This year his improvement has been immense and his game has improved as he has physically developed. Always with an eye for a through ball his tough tackling and positional sense have shone as have his defensive duties on numerous occasions throughout the season, never more so when he threw himself at the ball to stop a certain goal, and secure victory, in the narrow win over Arnold.
