Annual Awards Presentation Evening 2008
Under 9's White
YEL Sportsmanship Award
Our second year playing competitive football saw Whites playing in League 2 against a set of good ‘footballing’ teams.
Prior to Christmas Whites struggled, but after a good
result away to the unbeaten league leaders’ confidence in their own abilities
settled the team and the results started to come. Between January and the end of the season we reached the
Quarter-finals of the cup (going out to the eventual winners) and played seven
league games, winning 4, drawing 1 and losing only 2. Thus ensuring that they
will play league two football again next season.
We were very pleased to receive the Sportsmanship award from our fellow teams for this season and can’t wait for the presentation evening at Notts County ground.
Thanks to all the boys for listening to the coaches and
putting all their efforts into this seasons matches. Also, thanks to the mums and dads for their support and
making sure the boys turn up to matches on time and in good spirits. The Manager and Coaches look forward to the second
season with every confidence that the team will continue their progress and play
open, attractive, football.

Players, Player of the Year Jacob Barlow Jacob was voted ‘Most Improved Player’ last year and has followed that award with the Players Player award from his team mates this time. Probably the fact that he recently scored 5 goals in 10 minutes was a contributing factor. A left-footed striker he has the ability to do ‘the simple things’ well and holds up the ball in attack to bring the rest of the team into play. We look forward to seeing his progression next season and are excited at the prospect of what he can bring to the team. |

Sportsman / Most Improved Player William Brown William started the season playing in midfield but was converted to the role of Goalkeeper after only a few games. He has adapted extremely well to this new position and in doing so has created a much more solid defence for the team. He has worked hard at learning the skills required both in training and at home and this award is in recognition of that. Well done Will and good luck for next season. |

Managers, Player of the Year James Hallam James has had a great season and finished as our top goal scorer. However, there is much more to him than simply scoring goals. He is a truly gifted footballer who sets high standards for himself. Strong in the tackle, blistering pace and a lethal right-foot shot, James is one of those players that makes the hairs stand-up on the back of your neck when you see him in full flow on the soccer pitch. The team and coaches look forward to next season with James leading the charge once more. |
